Julius Caesar Movie and Book Comparison

As you can imagine, the Julius Caesar movie and play are very similar. An obvious likeness is the fact that both take place in Rome. Also, the number of characters in the film is almost exactly the same. The characters each have a unique purpose in both the movie and the book. The role of each character is also a similarity. For example, Brutus and Cassius instigated most of the planning behind Caesar's death, and Antony always stayed loyal to his true friends who had done him no wrong. Caesar's death in the movie was exactly how I pictured it while reading the book as well.

The book and movie are also different in a few ways. Although the dialog of the characters was almost exactly the same in the movie as it was in the play, quite a few lines were removed for sake of time. In the book, I think Brutus stressed the idea of killing Caesar for the good of Rome. Whereas in the movie, he only stated it once. In the movie, I got the idea that Cassius had more to do with planning Caesar's death than Brutus. But in the story, it seemed like Brutus did more to arrange the death of Julius Caesar.
